Properties and Functions:
Chlorohydrin, also known as di-chloro-dimethyl-pyridine-phenol, clopidol. It is a white or off-white powder. It is extremely insoluble in methanol or ethanol, and insoluble in water, acetone, ether, and benzene. It belongs to the pyridine class of compounds and has a wide range of anti-coccidial effects. It is generally used for the prevention and treatment of coccidiosis in poultry and rabbits.
Notes:
1. As this product inhibits the immunity of chickens against coccidia, it must not be discontinued during the entire brooding period of the chickens; egg-laying chickens and commercial breeding chickens should not use it. Since this product is prone to generating resistant coccidia species or strains, other anti-coccidial drugs must be rotated and used according to the plan. There is a certain synergistic effect when chlorohydrin pyridine and benzoquinomethate are used together. 2. Slaughter-off period: 5 days for chickens, 5 days for rabbits.
Chemical properties: White or light yellow powder. Odorless. Slightly soluble in 6 mol/L hydrochloric acid or 1 mol/L sodium hydroxide. Slightly soluble in methanol and ethanol, insoluble in water, benzene, acetone, and ether.
Usage: It is one of the most widely used anti-coccidial drugs in China. It is effective against various chicken coccidia and is usually administered continuously by mixing it into the animal feed.
