Introduction
Tetraethylthiuram disulfide belongs to the thiuram class of rubber vulcanization accelerators. These accelerators exhibit rapid scorching and vulcanization, classifying them as ultra-fast vulcanization accelerators. While exhibiting low vulcanization flatness, they produce vulcanized rubbers with high tensile strength, elongation at a given point, and hardness. Therefore, they can be used as co-vulcanization accelerators or sulfur-free vulcanizing agents for diene rubbers, and also as vulcanization accelerators for low-unsaturated rubbers.
Uses
Tetraethylthiuram disulfide is used as a rubber accelerator; in vulcanizing machines; as a seed disinfectant; as a fungicide; and for treating alcohol poisoning.
Bioactivity
Disulfiram (NSC190940, Tetraethylthiuramdisulfide, TETD) is a specific inhibitor of aldehyde-dehydrogenase (ALDH), with IC50 values ??of 0.15 μM and 1.45 μM for hALDH1 and hALDH2, respectively. Disulfiram can be used to treat chronic alcohol poisoning and acute sensitization to alcohol. Disulfiram induces apoptosis. It is also a pore-forming inhibitor that acts via gasdermin D (GSDMD).
Uses
Used as a super-accelerator and vulcanizing agent for natural rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, nitrile rubber, butyl rubber, cis-butadiene rubber, and latex.
