Uses
Propylparaben, also known as propylparaben, is mainly used as a bactericidal and preservative in food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, and also as a feed preservative. Appearance: White crystalline solids with a characteristic odor. Propyl carboxybenzoate is a colorless, fine crystal or white crystalline powder, almost odorless, with a slightly astringent taste. It is used as a p-hydroxybenzoic acid ester derivative. It can be prepared by reacting p-hydroxybenzoic acid with n-propanol in the presence of an acidic ionic liquid. It crystallizes in monoclinic space group P21/c. It has been reported as an endocrine disrupting compound.
